Self Portrait

I'm not dead!

I keep forgetting to update this blog!

So I finally got the monsters to print which previously kept flooding the screen because the ink was a little too thin.
Still came out a little patchy on the thinnest lines but it's not too bad.
I've started an embroidery of the happy noodles, which I'll eventually finish one day!

aaaaand I tested it on transfer paper as a quick alternative to screen printing

Screen prints

Recently I bought myself a screen printing exposure unit to print on tshirts and totes and whatever else I want!
It's been quite fun getting used to it and I have a couple of fox and cat prints available on my etsy shop.
The last image shows something else I'm working on to print. I've ordered a bunch more tshirts and hopefully I'll have more available on my shop soon!

Doodles

Hallo,
I've not updated for ages I keep forgetting!
I've been pretty busy at work and I also moved the beginning of this month so that combined with Christmas I've not had too much to update with but here are a couple of doodles.
Lunch time lady doodle
Twin Peaks sketches- I'd like to do finished drawings of all the characters!
Weird Bear
Top left and bottom left are my cushions, the other two are by the awesome Zara Picken but mine are available on my Society6 shop

Fox
Also I've bought a screen printing exposure unit so I'm super excited for that to arrive so I can start making prints :)

Punk Girl

Hello, I'm still alive just incredibly busy at the moment.
For the last 2 months I've been very busy working on freelance as well as my day job so have had no time for personal work, still about another month to go but ya know, who doesn't like extra cash?
Here's a portrait doodle from lunch the other day I forgot to post!

Nancy

Here's a portrait I did for a recent commission to paint my cute little Niece Nancy for my cousin's 30th birthday.
Hair is difficult to paint..... looks a little bit flat but I learned a lot painting it, and in future it's probably worth not trying to put so much detail into the hair.

Adventure time!

So here was my adventure time inspired self portrait illustration for The Clockwork Ballroom collective for the topic 'The episode that never happened.'

Speed Freaks

This was for a test for a UI with a quick turn around again. They wanted a Wacky Races style UI for an iphone game, in portrait.
I've learn a lot since working at Rebellion this last month and there's a lot of stuff I would change like the font sizes and styles and just general polishing and level of finish...but given I didn't have very long it's not too bad.

Daredevil

So this was for one art test for a 2D artist job where I had a very short deadline due to other art test commitments and their time requirements.
Basically they asked me to rip off family guy's style and create a daredevil Evel Kneivel type characters of an ex daredevil probably in middle age that is making a comeback for one last show, so here were a couple of variations I did.

They're pretty crappy as I didn't have too long to spend on them but I think I sufficiently ripped off family guy as requested haha

I'M ALIVE

I promise!
I've not posted here for aaaaaages because my contract came to an end at Headstrong in London at the end of July, so before that I was crazy busy with art tests and started work at Rebellion games in Oxford in August, where I've been for just over a month now! So that move took quite a lot of my time too. I've started as a GUI artist which has been really great and a nice challenge to have a change in style (If you look up their past games it'll give you an idea of the kind of genre I'm working on).
Art Academy has since been released and has been doing well with a metacritic score of 8.0 and it's only just been released in America and will be released in Japan very very soon- where I'm sure It will also do well!
It's been quite exciting to see my first game published and to see it on TV, in stores and actually have the physical boxed copy has been really great!

Oxford is a bit of a change of pace from London but it's lovely and has some really cool museums and architecture.
This is on my cycle route to work:

I'll post up some work from Art academy and a couple of other bits and pieces from art tests I can show- quite a lot of it I can't as I signed NDA forms but never mind.
I've also started on some illustrations for an ex colleague that I can't show yet but I'll post stuff here when I can :)

New Art Academy

The game I've been working on for the last year for Nintendo has been announced!
It's the new Art Academy for 3DS and 3DSXL which I've been writing lessons and drawing illustrations for and it launches on the 28th July in Europe and dates are to be confirmed for everywhere else.
You can read more about it HERE

Mishmash of work

Been a while since I've updated- here's a complete mashup of things.
Screen shots of UI work I did for Rabbids Rumble for 3DS which was announced last week so I can finally put it in my portfolio. Should be released in a few months as it's just coming to finalization now.
This was something new to me too! I constructed and painted a 3D wooden pixel heart for the topic 'Precious' for The Clockwork Ballroom.
I've also started to learn Max and I have some really basic things down but I need to learn how to make things slicker - I suppose add more polys so things curve nicer and how to make embellishments I want. It's based on my house illustration
This is for the most recent topic for The Clockwork Ballroom- Urban Sanctuary.
The plan is to draw a crazy detail city around the shrine.
